CART Blood Pressure Monitor Demonstrates Value for BP Monitoring in AF and Heart Failure

Sky Labs Presents Clinical Data on CART Blood Pressure Monitor at ESC Congress 2026

Sky Labs, led by CEO Jack ByungHwan Lee, announced on September 7 that it presented new clinical research findings on its ring-type blood pressure monitor, CART, at ESC Congress 2026 in Munich, Germany.

The company hosted five dedicated sessions showcasing clinical data on patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and heart failure (HF), highlighting CART’s potential for continuous blood pressure (BP) monitoring in patients for whom conventional cuff-based measurements can be challenging.

New Data in Atrial Fibrillation and Heart Failure

Professor Ki-Hong Lee of the Department of Cardiology at Chonnam National University Hospital presented findings from a 24-hour BP monitoring study involving patients with AF during a Digital Health Session on August 29.

According to Professor Lee, CART achieved an analyzable data rate of approximately 80% in AF patients. He said the findings demonstrate the feasibility of ring-based 24-hour BP monitoring while allowing clinicians to continuously observe nocturnal dipping patterns.

Professor In-Cheol Kim of the Department of Cardiology at Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital presented research involving patients with severe HF, whose mean ejection fraction (EF) was 29%.

In a simultaneous comparison between CART and conventional 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM), the two devices showed high agreement and met the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) error-margin criteria. The findings suggest that CART could provide a reliable option for BP monitoring and support more personalized treatment strategies in patients with HF.

Together, the findings highlight the potential value of continuous cuffless BP monitoring in AF and HF patients, particularly those who may experience measurement challenges with conventional cuffs because of irregular pulse patterns or substantial BP variability.

Broader Clinical Validation

Sky Labs also presented additional clinical research supporting the accuracy and usability of CART.

Professor Hae-Young Lee of Seoul National University Hospital reported that CART met ESH recommendations for evaluating cuffless BP devices across several testing conditions, including Static Test, Device Position Test, Awake/Asleep Test, and Exercise Test.

Professor Eun-Mi Lee of Dongguk University Ilsan Hospital presented a case in which CART was used to monitor BP in a patient experiencing pain and stress associated with conventional cuff measurements. The case demonstrated how continuous BP monitoring could help clinicians assess a patient’s BP more accurately and safely adjust medication.

Meanwhile, Professor Jong-Chan Youn of Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital analyzed more than 12,000 breathing-disorder events among 62 patients with sleep apnea. The analysis identified sharp increases in BP immediately after breathing resumed, demonstrating CART’s ability to capture dynamic BP changes associated with sleep-disordered breathing.

Professors Seok-Min Kang of Severance Hospital and George Stergiou of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens also highlighted Sky Labs’ approach to clinical validation, noting that the company is among a limited number of cuffless-device developers worldwide adhering to rigorous ESH validation criteria.

Expanding Cuffless BP Monitoring

CART uses photoplethysmography (PPG) sensors and AI-based deep learning technology to measure BP continuously for 24 hours through a finger-worn ring, eliminating the need for repeated cuff inflation.

The device is currently prescribed at more than 2,000 medical institutions in South Korea, with cumulative prescriptions exceeding 300,000. CART was also included in the 2026 Korean Society of Hypertension Guidelines, 6th Edition, marking what Sky Labs describes as the first inclusion of a ring-type cuffless BP monitor in a national hypertension guideline.

“At ESC 2026, we demonstrated CART’s potential in managing complex cardiovascular conditions such as AF and HF,” said Jack ByungHwan Lee, CEO of Sky Labs. “Building on more than 300,000 prescriptions and its inclusion in clinical guidelines, we will accelerate our expansion into European and global markets.”
